• Eight National Congress of Luca Coscioni Association, operational secretariat of the World Congress, held in Rome last October 1-2, 2011. The Eight National Congress of Luca Coscioni Association was held in October 1-2 in Rome. Former Spanish Minister of Health, Bernat Soria, now CABIMER – Andalusian Center for Molecular Biology and Regenerative Medicine and Françoise Shenfield, Clinical Lecturer in Infertility and Honorary Lecturer in Medical Ethics at UCL Medical School, London  took part in the event. A video by Dr. Delia Ribas Valdés, the co-director of the Costa Rican Infertility Institute (Instituto Costarricense de Infertilidad) was also presented. • Scientists react to EU COURT of Justice banning patents based on embryonic stem cells. “A process which involves removal of a stem cell from a human embryo at the blastocyst stage, entailing the destruction of that embryo, cannot be patented” is the recent shocking judgement issued by the EU Court of Justice. • The State of World Population 2011 report was launched in October 26. Read the press release by UNFPA – United Nations Population Fund.
• The new abortion map is now available. Since 1998, the Center for Reproductive Rights (CRR) has produced The World’s Abortion Laws map to visually compare the legal status of abortion in different countries and to advocate for greater progress in ensuring access to safe and legal abortion services for all women worldwide.
